“I found that many people I admire, such as Naomi Klein and George Monbiot, were writing about climate change and blaming a ‘failure of the imagination’, but frustratingly never went further to ask what a failure of the imagination is, and what we can do about it. I came to see that much of what we do at Transition Network creates spaces for people to be imaginative, and that those spaces are all too rare today. I want to create an inspirational book rooted in qualitative research and evidence, showing that austerity creates the ideal conditions for the contraction of our imagination. And that unless we reignite it we will not be able to face climate change - the greatest failure of the imagination in the history of the world.” Rob
