Domaine de Graux

30 Solutionaries

June 2015

Belgium, Tournai region

The Foundation took 30 Solutionaries to the inspiring Domaine de Graux in Belgium. With 120 hectares, the farm is dedicated to the preservation of biodiversity. It has numerous grasslands and organic fields, trees and ponds, hedges and animals raised with respect. The farm hosts multiple producers organized in interdependent micro-farms. An adapted legal framework enables them to work together on the lands of Graux. This innovative form of organization allows them to benefit from access to land and work in agriculture.

The domain has been created and is led with passion by the inspiring Elisabeth Simon, a woman with both vision and ambition. During the same trip, the group also visited the farm of Emmanuel Demasy, at the forefront in terms of regenerative agriculture. His is one of the pioneering farms that has succeeded in reconciling economics (ensuring profitability) with ecology (decreasing negative impacts).
