Ashoka is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, with more than 3,200 Ashoka Fellows (social entrepreneurs) in 88 countries putting their system of changing ideas into practice on a global scale. Ashoka launched the field of social entrepreneurship and has activated multi-sector partners across the world who increasingly look to entrepreneurial talent and new ideas to solve social problems.
Ashoka’s mission has evolved beyond catalysing individual entrepreneurs into enabling an “everyone a changemaker” world. With more than 700 fellows working in the field of education, Ashoka also launched a specific programme focussing on this sector. Building on their experience with social entrepreneurs, they are now working to trigger fundamental changes in the educational experience of young people so that everyone can become a changemaker.
“By selecting and accompanying pioneers and supporting the replication of their projects globally to scale up their impact, we work as a catalyst for social change. Ashoka Fellows are working in diverse sectors such as health, environment, social inclusion and education & youth. What’s more, we build bridges across sectors, bringing “changemakers”, businesses, media and policy makers together to join forces with us in the creation of a better, sustainable and collaborative world.
Ashoka envisions a world where Everyone is a Changemaker, a world that responds quickly and effectively to social challenges, and where each individual has the freedom, confidence and societal support to address any social problem and drive change. At the heart of our actions we value empathy, responsibility, compassion, collaboration and sustainability.”
