Ashoka is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide, with more than 3,200 Ashoka Fellows (social entrepreneurs) in 88 countries putting their system of changing ideas into practice on a global scale. Ashoka launched the field of social entrepreneurship and has activated multi-sector partners across the world who increasingly look to entrepreneurial talent and new ideas to solve social problems.
Ashoka’s mission has evolved beyond catalysing individual entrepreneurs into enabling an “everyone a changemaker” world. With more than 700 fellows working in the field of education, Ashoka also launched a specific programme focussing on this sector. Building on their experience with social entrepreneurs, they are now working to trigger fundamental changes in the educational experience of young people so that everyone can become a changemaker.
“By selecting and accompanying pioneers and supporting the replication of their projects globally to scale up their impact, we work as a catalyst for social change. Ashoka Fellows are working in diverse sectors such as health, environment, social inclusion and education & youth. What’s more, we build bridges across sectors, bringing “changemakers”, businesses, media and policy makers together to join forces with us in the creation of a better, sustainable and collaborative world.
Ashoka envisions a world where Everyone is a Changemaker, a world that responds quickly and effectively to social challenges, and where each individual has the freedom, confidence and societal support to address any social problem and drive change. At the heart of our actions we value empathy, responsibility, compassion, collaboration and sustainability.”

In 2013, the Lunt Foundation has funded communication tools to Ashoka Belgium to develop its identity and to widen its community of fellows and ASN. It included the production of short videos, radio jingles, mobile applications and the redesign of their website.
In 2015, the Foundation supported Ashoka’s first Belgian Blast event, which took place in Brussels in November. This event involved 200 frontline teachers from Belgium and around Europe. It provided them with the tools to strengthen their position as a frontline educator and empower them to adapt to today’s need in education.
In 2016, the Foundation financed the travels of Belgian Ashoka Changemaker Schools representatives to attend the Changemaker Education Summit, which took place in Ireland in October. Inspiring event including more than 80 European Changemaker Schools and 40 innovators in the field of education. They connected with other European innovative leaders in education and shared their vision on how to re-imagine the experience of learning.
